A very solid horror/comedy and a good detour from standard zombie fare. "Fido" (2006), where the premise is "1950s USA but with domesticated zombies as servants for anyone that can afford it". Though it's not more modern, I recently watched "Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon" (2006) and absolutely loved it as a combination horror/comedy and 80s slasher movie satire. I know the evil dead trilogy does a good job of blending horror and comedy, but is there anything more modern that is similar to this movie? I’m wondering if there are any other movies like this. But overall, I really liked this movie and I think it’ll quickly become one of my favorites. With this movie the comedy never takes away from the horror.Īnother thing is that Christine might be the most sympathetic character I’ve seen in a horror movie, she’s very likable and I felt bad for her the whole movie and the ending left me pretty devastated even though I had a feeling it wouldn’t end well. It’s a movie that now having watched it, stands out against other movies that are labeled Horror comedies. I liked how Raimi took time to set up the character of Christine and her situation, and the blending of comedy and horror were great. I know this is an older movie but I finally watched it for the first time yesterday and I liked it a lot.
